The author served as a volunteer Chinese teacher at the Prince of Songkla University Surat Thani Campus in Thailand from July 2018 to March 2020.During the teaching experience of two years' elective courses,the author found a common phenomenon that it is difficult to learn,to remember,and to use for students in studying the Chinese vocabularies.In terms of issues about practical problems in Chinese vocabularies' teaching for Thai students and their personal characteristics,the author attempted to take competition-cooperation mechanism into the Chinese vocabularies' teaching in the primary stage,and addressed the corresponding relatively satisfactory results.Based on the "competition and cooperative learning theory",and relied on the research objects in students coming from the Elective Comprehensive Courses at the Prince of Songkla University Surat Thani Campus,the author summarized the students' learning needs through a combination ways of questionnaires,teaching experiments,classroom observation and statistical analysis methods.And adopting interesting vocabulary games aimed at the characteristics of Thai college students as well as reasonable reward-punishment system as the teaching aids,meanwhile,through the vocabularies' teaching steps of "pre-class cooperation preview,homework error correction and discussions,group PPT presentation,teacher supplementary explanations and quizzes,interesting games to practice,as well as a variety of assignments",to cultivate students' autonomous learning gradually and use of vocabulary flexibly.Under the guidance of the principles of healthy competition & friendly cooperation,teacher-led & student-centered,efficiency,motivation,interest,teacher-student interaction,relative fairness and justice etc.And this thesis takes the lesson 6 of 360 Standard Sentences in Chinese Conversations(1)designed the teaching plan and carried out the teaching,where designed experimental class and control class that competition-cooperation mechanism was used for vocabularies' teaching in the experimental class and traditional teaching approach was adopted in the control class.Then the feasibility and effectiveness of teaching design have been demonstrated by classroom performance,oral performance,course performance,and teaching satisfaction questionnaires of experimental and control classes,and targeted teaching experience are also derived,hoping to help the Thai students to learn Chinese vocabularies.It is a new attempt to apply the competition-cooperation mechanism to the teaching of Chinese vocabularies in the primary stage of Thailand.And it has been proved in practice that vocabularies' teaching based on the competition-cooperation mechanism has stimulated students' motivation to learn Chinese,strengthened their self-confidence,and intensified the students' skills of competition and cooperation,improved the students' ability of using vocabularies and overall performance,and mobilizes their autonomous learning ability.It's of great help to the conversion of middle and poor students.There are several points should be mentioned in carrying out the competition-cooperation mechanism for Thai college students in the primary stage.Firstly,there should be limited the number of students in the class and the classroom rules should be concise.Secondly,teaching guidance should be carried out step by step,as well as the reward-punishment system should be implemented effectively.Thirdly,classroom activities should be reasonable combination between novelty and relative fixity.Fourthly,teachers should enhance their control over the class and take care of the learners of different levels.Fifthly,there should be listening,speaking and reading first,and writing follows.
