Research On The Redesign Of Waste Fabric Based On The Concept Of Sustainable Design

Sustainable design is derived from the concept of sustainable development,which manifests the reflection of our human being on the balance between development and environmental issues.The initial attempt of "sustainable design" may date back to green design wave,which highlights the application of materials and energy exerting low negative effect on the environment.The specific contents of 3R concept conveyed by green design consist of the following aspects: First,to reduce the consumption of materials and energy and take into full consideration the possibility of materials sorted collection and recycle;second,to select waste or renewable materials to design under possible conditions;and third,to utilize material resources efficiently,so that the environmental pressure caused by pollution problems such as landfill can be reduced.Hence,the waste fabric materials redesign is put forward in this context.Fabric materials,as we all know,are strongly associated with human life,but we generally eliminate and discard a mass of materials per year,which not only waste resources,but also pollute the environment.Almost 100% of the waste fabric materials can be recycled,after recycling,these materials can be upgraded and used effectively through design,which can protect the environment and usher in new commercial value.Furthermore,these materials can also arouse people's attention and thinking,enhance their resource-saving consciousness and environmental awareness,and guide broad consumers to develop eco-friendly way of life and low-carbon consumption concept.In this paper,the theoretical background of waste fabric materials redesign and current situation of massive wastes of fabric materials are illustrated at first;and then the research and development status of waste fabric materials redesign are elucidated through referring to the literature,to put forward the research significance of waste fabric materials redesign.Afterwards,the specific feasibility exploration of waste fabric materials redesign is carried out based on the definition and method content of waste material redesign.Finally,the process experiments on waste fabric materials areimplemented,and the design methods are extracted from the experiment effect,which lays a foundation for creating decorative and functional products,for example,vessels design,stationery design,and household products design,etc.The nature of creative practice aims to embody environmental design concept carried by design works,and to explore the redesign direction of "upgrading and utilization" of waste materials along with prolonging the service cycle of waste fabric materials.Specifically,the creative practice process of works includes the creative experiments of the combination of waste fabric materials and craft techniques in texture,shape,color,etc.;the breakthrough in the form of the combination of waste fabric and comprehensive materials;recycling the waste fabric materials and endowing them a new sense of beauty;and eventually returning to life again,namely prolonging the service life of fabric materials and extending their material function.By virtue of demonstrating the redesign creation of waste fabrics,green and healthy life concept can be propagated,providing reference and inspiration for the redesign and reuse of other waste fabrics.Therefore,waste fabric materials can be recycled under the influence of design originality,and make people's lives more colorful at the same time.
