The source text is Chapter Two to Chapter Four of Measuring Education Inequality in Developing Countries,which mainly introduced the Education Inequality in Developing Countries.Based on the analysis of the original language and structure,the translator chooses Nord's Text Analysis Model as the guiding theory.The author hopes that the readers could have a deeper understanding of the education inequality in developing countries,drawing experience and lessons from it.This report consists of five parts.The first part is an introduction of the translating task including the background and significance of the report.The second part summarizes the process of the project,which includes pre-translation,detailed translation process and post-translation revision and review.The third part firstly introduces the theory of Text Analysis Model,and then analyzes the source texts through three aspects,which includes translation brief,source-text analysis and translation strategies.The fourth part,the translator takes Nord's Text Analysis Model as the theoretical perspective,as well as its intratextual and extratextual factors.The translator selects specific cases from the perspectives of vocabulary,complex sentence and non-language symbols dimensions in the project,summed up the specific translation methods.In the last part,the translator reviews the whole process of translation and summarizes the translation practice,sums up the gains and deficiencies.There are two main points of this translation practice.Firstly,in terms of its choice of subject,Measuring Education Inequality in Developing Countries gives the reader a grand view of education inequality in developing countries,which provides a reference for China's educational reform.What is more,from the perspective of Nord's Text Analysis Model,the author analyzes the source text lexically and grammatically,which provides new ideas for the translation of informative text.
