The relationship between China and the world is increasingly close in the recent years. Our government pays more and more attention to the external publicity. Therefore, understanding foreign journalists' interview process and methods will help our government organize foreign media to make interviews and improve the ability of external publicity.Interviews That Work: A Practical Guide for Journalists is a book on journalism written by Shirly Biagi, who is a scholar of journalism and communication. To spread interview knowledge and experience to the public, the language is concise, logical and also involves many journalism terms.According to Newmark's(2001a)text category theory, the informative text is logical in language and explains the objective facts to the readers. It is very important to pay attention to the readers in the translation practice, especially the effective communication of information. Thus, the source text conforms to the language features and functions of the informative text.Newmark(2001a)put forward communicative translation and semantic translation.Communicative translation concentrates on the understanding and responses of the target language readers to make the target language readers have the same feelings with the original language readers. Thus, communicative translation suits informative text.Guided by the communicative translation theory, proper translation skills were adopted to solve the problems at lexical, syntax and discourse levels, such as conversion, semantic extension, voice conversion, restructuring, transformation of reference and compensation,so as to convey the information of the original text to the target language readers.By writing this translation report, comprehensive understanding of Newmark's communicative translation theory and flexible usage of relevant translation skills were gained by the translator. It is hoped that this translation not only shares interviewing skills with domestic readers, but also provides some references for the translation of journalism texts.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 32.
