Study On Figurative Sculpture Of Stephan Balkenhol

Stephan Balkenhol is a representative western artist who engaged in the creation of figurative sculpture in the 1980 s.So far,he is still active in the field of western contemporary art with his innovative color painted figurative sculpture.On the one hand,his works avoid the ironic and critical topics about Society and Politics.On the other hand,other sculptors either regard human figures as a branch theme of creation or use a wider range of creative materials.However,In the decades since the first figurative sculpture was created in the early 1980 s,Stephen Balkenhol has basically used traditional wood as the material to consistently express the theme of the figures through chiseling.Compared with the works of his peers,Balkenhol's works not only conform to the characteristics of figurative sculpture in form,but also make his methods of creating figurative sculpture have contained more academic research value in the field of figurative sculpture research.Therefore,based on Balkenho's life and history in the stage of artistic growth,through the in-depth form analysis of his representative works in different turning stages in the whole creative development context,this paper discusses and summarizes the sculptor's creative methods of figurative sculpture as a whole,so as to demonstrate StephenBalkenhol's contribution to the development of figurative sculpture and inevitability of the era environment and the personal experience about his works producing such a face.
