A Research On E-C Translation In Energy Report Text From The Perspective Of Explicitation

The translation project is selected from Energy Transitions in G20 Countries released by International Energy Agency,which is an information-based energy report with long difficult sentences.The focus of the present research follows the conception of Explicitation by Vinay and Darbelnet as the translation process in which embedded information in the original text is expressed explicitly in the target text,and discusses how to achieve explicitation in energy report translation.The approaches of the theoretical research of explicitation and the case study of Energy Transitions in G20 Countries are adopted to analyze the translation strategies of achieving explicitation in lexis,syntax and discourse in target texts,including lexical extension,amplification,splitting long sentences,inverting the original order and strengthening coherence.This thesis concludes that explicitation can be used as a tool in energy reports translation to improve the acceptance and accuracy of the target texts.
