The Cognitive Eolution Of “V Ta Ge X” Construction

In this paper,the construction"V ta ge X(V??X)"is taken as the research object,through collecting a extensive corpus,and referring to the relevant Construction Grammar to study the nature of this construction.The construction attribution of"V ta ge X"structure is discussed,this construction is divided into typical"V ta ge X"ditransitive construction and atypical"V ta ge X"ditransitive construction,and the differences in grammar and semantics between the two are analyzed.In addition,we find that their main different mechanisms are construction coercion,grammatical metonymy and analogy.Meanwhile,the motivations of their differences are analyzed from three aspects:grammatical requirements,semantic requirements and pragmatics requirements.The article is divided into five chapters.Chapter one,introduction,mainly discusses the current research status on domestic and foreign Construction Grammar,and the domestic research status on "V ta ge X".Academia's research on the "V ta ge X" structure mainly focuses on its construction attribution,sources and formation,but these researches are not profound.Moreover,studies on this construction is from the synchronic perspective,so its evolution are not shown.In chapter two,the "giving" and "acquiring" types in the typical and atypical "V ta ge X" ditransitive construction are compared and analyzed from the perspective of grammar and semantics.In grammar,it's found that the differences between them lie in the following four aspects: the directionality and the argument structure of the variable "V",the part of speech of the "X" word-forming component,and the grammatical functions of the constant "ta" and "ge";in semantics,their differences exit in the feature of [±massiveness].In Chapter three,the different mechanisms between ditransitive construction in typical and atypical "V ta ge X" are analyzed.The coercion from "V ta ge X" ditransitive construction on the direction(semantics)and argument of "V" and the part of speech of "X" is the expression of construction coercion.The grammatical metonymy is represented by the conversion of "X" word-forming component from a predicate component to a nominal component;analogy is embodied in a constraint and normative effect on their differences.In chapter four the motivations for the difference between the typical and atypical "V ta ge X" ditransitive construction are analyzed.The sentence-pattern application and lexical substitution required bygrammar should have the significance of direction shift with the construction meaning required by semantics.The two motives make the typical and atypical construction differ in the verb "V".In addition,the economics of language in pragmatics requirements makes the two constructions differ in the semantics of [ ± massive]characteristics.Chapter five is not only a summary for this paper,but also points out the deficiency of this study.Hope it can be improved in the future research.
