English Culture Teaching In Senior High School Based On The New Curriculum Standard

In December 2016,China held a high-level forum on foreign language teaching reform.Professor Wang Wei pointed out the problems existing in English classroom teaching in China at this stage.It is suggested that teachers should explore the culture behind the text and create an English classroom with a blend of culture and thinking.Therefore,the teaching of English culture is still an important breakthrough point in foreign language teaching.Based on this,this paper attempts to solve the following two questions: 1)Which cultural topics have been chosen in the textbook Oxford High School English? 2)How do teachers use Oxford High School English for cultural teaching?On the basis of reviewing the relevant research results of Chinese and foreign cultural teaching,this paper takes the cultural topics in Oxford high school English textbooks as the research object.Through the methods of literature research and induction and summary,this paper puts forward three aspects of high school English culture teaching: cultural teaching objectives,cultural teaching contents and cultural teaching methods that conform to the high school English classroom.Based on the basic concept of "English Curriculum Standard for Ordinary High Schools(2017 Edition)" and the framework of the theory of intercultural communicative competence,and based on the two levels of cultural teaching,the goal of language content and the goal of cultural understanding are established.This paper divides the cultural teaching methods into two directions,which focus on the teaching of cultural knowledge and the cultivation of intercultural communicative competence.This paper gives a brief introduction to the cultural knowledge of Oxford high school English textbooks and a brief analysis of cultural resources.Based on this,taking Oxford high school English textbooks as an example,this paper presents specific teaching methods.Based on the analysis of the introduction and reading sections of Oxford High School English,this paper integrates the method into the teaching steps and attempts and explores cultural teaching practice with examples.
