British art theorists once said that "all real art should have a common character, which is"meaningful form".Art also comes from life.As an art form closely related to people's life,Huizhou architecture in Ming and Qing Dynasties must be subconsciously guided by the expectations of Huizhou people's life, thus forming the architecture and interior furnishings with Huizhou characteristics.Corresponding to Huizhou architecture, this meaning refers to people's expectation of life in their dwellings, that is,the life ideal of Huizhou people in Ming and Qing Dynasties. The ideal of life is for the ideal life.Huizhou people spend most of their time in residential buildings, and their economic conditions are not limited to the demand for housing only as a "shelter" surrounded by four sides, but also the Huizhou people naturally put their ideal and expectation of life in the residential buildings, thereby expressing their higher expectations and aspirations for life. However,we can not help but wonder what kind of ideal life in Huizhou in the Ming and Qing Dynasties to form a very distinctive architectural and interior furnishing space? How did the people's ideal of life in Southern Anhui in Ming and Qing Dynasties affect the display art? What is the relationship between them? This paper attempts to explore the life ideal of Huizhou people in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and to think about the "essence" of the interior decoration art in Huizhou dwellings in Ming and Qing Dynasties,so as to correctly grasp the "meaning" behind the "phenomenon".This paper makes full use of literature reading, field research, analysis and induction, morphological analysis and other research methods, focusing on three important contents. The first is to analyze the social, economic and cultural status of the clans in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the motivation of Huizhou people to choose jobs from Confucianism and business to analyze the life ideal of different groups, different gender and different age groups. The second is to classify the ideal types of social life in Huizhou in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and take the progressive relationship among the five levels of needs of American psychologist Maslow as an invisible clue to sort out how different types of life ideals are embodied in the decoration and furnishings of Huizhou architecture. The third is to explore the relationship between the ideal of life and the display art of folk houses.
