A Study Of Vietnam In"Haiguotuzhi"

Wei Yuan was a representative figure of "opening eyes to see the world" in the early modern times of China.He compiled and completed the book Haiguo Tuzhi.At present,there are 50 volumes(1842,1844 editions),60 volumes(1847 editions)and 100 volumes(1867,1876,1880,1887,1895,1902 editions).The book records the history and geography of Vietnam,and mainly absorbs the classical Chinese literature and the works of Western missionaries.Some of the contents of Haiguo Tuzhi Vietnam have absorbed the relevant records of Sizhou Zhi,but they have been supplemented and perfected.Vietnam's records in several different editions are not unchanged,but are supplemented by certain ideas.The value of Haiguo Tuzhi Vietnam is mainly embodied in several aspects: first,historical value,which preserves a large number of historical materials on Vietnam's related issues since modern times;second,geographical value,which surpasses traditional public geography;of course,the ideological value of promoting the transformation of China and Japan into modern society can not be ignored.The main deficiencies are: errors in historical facts,deep-rooted traditional ideas of suzerain-vassal relationship,duplication of contents,unknown sources of historical materials,confusion in the records of regime names,etc.
