The Constitution of the People's Republic of China(hereinafter referred to as the Constitution)is China's fundamental law.It is in command of the country's legal system and has the highest legal effect.All citizens who belong to the People's Republic of China have the responsibility to observe and maintain the Constitution.Therefore,the accurate translation of the constitution is particularly significant in order to enable our compatriots of all nationalities have a profound and accurate understanding of the laws and regulations of the country.So translation of the Constitution has always been the focus of attention of translation scholars.This paper takes the latest revised Constitution of the People's Republic of China and its Uyghur translation in 2018 as the corpus source.Based on existing research results,it uses speech act theory to explore the rationality and importance of verbs.Performative verbs are the core words in the Constitution.This kind verb also carrys on the various actions of the agent and distinguishes the semantically controlled objects,which guarantees the integrity of legal norms.This paper adopts data statistics and descriptive analysis methods to describe and analyze the methods and skills of translation by observing and concluding performance of performative verbs,and summarizes the rules of translation.In order to help the target readers understand the essence of the Constitution and provide reference for the translation of performative verbs in the future laws.This paper consists of four parts.The first part is an introduction.On the basis of combing the existing research status,this paper puts forward research significance and research purpose,and introduces research methods and corpus sources.The second part,Chapter 1,illustrates speech act theory and its applicability to the translation of the Constitution.The characteristics of the Constitution require translators adhere to the principles of accuracy,professionalism,and simplicity when translating Uyghur.The accuracy of translation of performative verbs affects translation quality.The third part including the second,third,fourth,and fifth chapters,uses Austin's classification to explore the "Uyghur translation" of "exercise","commitment","ruling",and "explanatory" in the Constitution.It also looks into performative verbs of high frequency and its translation.The first is a deep analysis of the meanings and differences of the same kind of functional words.The second is to analyze the agent behavior and observe the fixed collocation of verbs,so as to analyze whether the translator's choice of synonyms reflects the accuracy and professionalism of the translation of the Constitution.It concludes the translation methods of performative verbs,including word for word translation,reduction translation,word meaning extension translation and provincial translation translation.The fourth part is the conclusion,which generalizes and summarizes the research content and research results of this paper.
