Abstract/Summary:
Expressive Speech Act Verbs(ESAVs),as a major category of Speech Act Verbs(SAVs),bear the basic function of expressing emotion in communication. However, the current research on ESAVs in Chinese is often limited to a certain sub-category and lacks a comprehensive discussion. This paper adopts the speech act theory and semantics theory and takes the ESAVs in Contemporary Chinese Dictionary(7th edition)as the research object, trying to make a more comprehensive analysis of the ESAVs in Contemporary Chinese. The introduction summarizes and introduces speech act theory and related research, analyzes the results and existing problems of domestic and foreign scholars on speech act verbs and ESAVs,and finally introduces the purpose of this article. And research methods, sources of corpus. The first chapter defines and classifies the ESAVs.First, according to Searle’s classification criteria and basic semantic feature classification, the corresponding 274 ESAVs are screened out, being divided into 18 categories, and then being divided into the positive and negative aspects, which reveals the unique relationship between ESAVs and expressive speech act.The second chapter analyzes the verbs of performative verbs in ESAVs,and clarifies the standard and usage of verbs of acting verbs. The main criterion for judging a performative verb is whether it completes an on-line reflection or not.In terms of usage, performative verbs can enter a complete sentence, use independently, omit the subject or forming an act-for-variant to perform speech acts..The third chapter analyzes the non-performative verbs in the ESAVs,and discusses the way that the non-performative verbs perform speech acts. Most of the expression non-performative verbs in Contemporary Chinese assume the propositional meaning. When these non-performative verbs need to perform a speech act, they are often realized by means of discourse markers, context and so on.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the factors restricting the expression of SAVs from entering the explicit performatives and also discusses the pragmatic function of the ESAVs.The main factors are conceptual distance,subject-object context, social distance. The pragmatic functions are mainly textual functions and interpersonal functions. The conclusion part summarizes and summarizes the content of the full text, and looks forward to the future research work of this paper.
