Organic farming has evolved from a fringe movement within the agricultural world into a significant component of agriculture and an important player in agricultural policy development.This generates a much needed balance into the continuing debate among business,farmers and consumers on central issues in society about the provenance,cost,and quality of food.This is a report on the E-C translation of excerpts of a book called The Global History of Organic Farming published by Oxford press,which belongs to an informative text.To write a global history of any topic is an ambitious task and this book tackles the evolution of the organic farming movement,especially the development since the beginning of the 20th century.In this translation task,the translator selects chapters 1 and 2 as the translation texts,which explains the roots of organic challenges and the cultural soil of organic farming.The report consists of five chapters,including task description,translation process,theoretical framework,case analysis and conclusion of translation practice.Under the guidance of "Eco-translatology" theory,this translation practice focuses on the specific analysis of typical cases while translation from three dimension perspectives,namely,linguistic dimension,communicative dimension and cultural dimension.After this translation practice,the translator sums up the experience gained and the problems to be solved.It reveals that in order to produce ideal translation work,the translator not only needs to improve translation ability and language application ability,but also should collecting authoritative information.Especially for highly specialized texts,more background knowledge should be accumulated to find out and solve problems in time.
