Language is the carrier of culture and the symbolic system of record culture.Culture and language are interrelated and interdependent.The teaching of the second language is not only a simple language teaching,but also an output of the culture of the second language country.Therefore,the relationship between Chinese teaching and Chinese cultural teaching is naturally complementary and inseparable.Chinese is an important tool for promoting Chinese culture,and mastering the corresponding Chinese culture is a necessary way to learn Chinese well.The purpose of teaching Chinese as a foreign language to improve the communicative competence of learners is inseparable from the support of cultural teaching.Chinese language teaching in Latvia has been in existence for 28 years since its independence in 1991.With the University of Latvia as the radiation center,the students has expanded.There are nearly 20 teaching points and nearly 20 Chinese language teacher volunteers are sent to Latvia every year and hundreds of students are being taught each year.Of course,every Chinese teacher will find some problems in the process of Chinese teaching.In this paper,based on the one-year Chinese teaching experience at Ventspils University in Latvia,and found the research objects among the Chinese learners of nearly 20 Chinese teaching sites,including Ventspils University.From the perspective of intercultural communication,the author analyzes the problems that students made mistakes in speech communication and nonverbal communication.And the differences between the native language background culture and the target language culture of Latvian Chinese learners,the stereotypes of learners on China,the influence of society,family,school,teachers,textbooks,and other factors of learners themselves.To study the causes of these problems and propose appropriate coping strategies to help Chinese teachers pay attention to the solution of these communicative problems in Chinese teaching,thus helping Latvian Chinese learners to achieve zero mistakes in real intercultural communication.
