Study On The Incorporation Of The Eighth Route South Into The New Fourth Army

The Eighth Route Army and the New Fourth Army were established after the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War.They were two military forces under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.In April 1940,the main part of the Eighth Route Army went south to Central China and was incorporated into the New Fourth Army in February 1941.This was a major event in the history of the Communist Party army.Throughout the known research results,historians mostly focus on the discussion of the historical facts of the southbound expedition,while there are few studies on the incorporation of the part into the New Fourth Army,lacking complete and systematic academic achievements.The branch of the Eighth Route Army went south and was incorporated into the New Fourth Army,which is the embodiment of the CCP's strategy.Therefore,based on the previous studies,this paper analyzes the formation and the implementation process of the CCP's strategy from the perspective of the joint compilation of the two armies.This paper first analyzes the historical background of the Eighth Route Army's incorporation into the New Fourth Army.From three aspects,politics,military and strategy,this paper demonstrates the inevitability of the Chinese communist party to lock the main force of the Eighth Route Army southward to the north of Jiangsu province in the spring of 1940.Then,comb the whole process of the Eighth Route Army joining the New Fourth Army.According to a series of events after the main force of the Eighth Route Army entered the northern part of Jiangsu,the key leaders from Yan'an reconsidered the southbound troops and the present situation in central China,and gradually formed the early framework of the development strategy of the New Fourth Army.After the New Forth Army incident,the development strategy of the New Fourth Army was defined.Finally,it summarizes the historical role of the Eighth Route Army in the New Fourth Army.The incorporation of the Eighth Route Army into the south brought a large number of military cadres to the New Fourth Army,as well as a strong and experienced fighting force to it.More importantly,the New Fourth Army,relying on the northern part of Jiangsu,established the anti-Japanese base area of Jiangsu and Anhui provinces.During the counterattack period of the Anti-Japanese War,the New Fourth Army greatly developed westward and southward from the Jiangsu and Anhui bases,completing the development strategy formulated by the central government and reversing the situation of the Anti-Japanese War of the Communist Party.
