The introduction part of this article discusses the research origin,research status and research methods of " The Study on Mencius in the Late Qing Dynasty ".The first chapter is an introduction to the development of Mencius in the late Qing Dynasty.Starting with the social and academic background of the late Qing Dynasty,the overall characteristics of the development of the study of Mencius in the late Qing Dynasty were judged.The second chapter is the textual research of Mencius in the late Qing Dynasty.In the late Qing Dynasty,"Mencius" has a large number of literally work and extensive research content.This article selects Yu Yue's "Meng Zi Ping Yi",Yu Chang's "Xiang Cao Jiao Meng Zi" and Gui Wencan's "Meng Zi Zhao Zhu textual research" as the research object.The three books involve text collation,word exegesis,historical fact research,Zhao Qi note,Pseudo Sun Shi note and many other aspects that can comprehensively express the face of the textual study of "Mencius" in this period.At the same time,we select the "Mencius" part in "Dongshu reading note" by Chen Li,which involves the exegesis of the words and also has a rational interpretation,is a more successful attempt of the Han and Song tunes and propositions in this period.The third chapter is the study of Mencius of neo-Confucianism in the late Qing Dynasty.Among the neo-Confucianism in the late Qing Dynasty,the most prominent studies of Mengxue are Luo Zenan,the representative of Huxiang,and Fang Zongcheng,a scholar of Tongcheng school.Hunan and Anhui were the important towns of Confucianism at that time,and the studies of these two scholars basically represented the general theoretical style of the late cleanup study of Mencius.Under the tremendous changes of the times,Neo-Confucianism appeared in this period of time with more theoretical care,which was particularly evident in his "Mencius" studies,such as Luo's criticism of the current politics,Fang's interpretation of Mencius' rich education,etc..But on the whole,they still inherited the old topics of the former philosophers.Roche focused on elucidating goodness,distinguishing righteousness and respecting Zhu and inhibiting Wang,and Fang also followed Zhu's comments and used Renyi as the outline of Mencius.The strong inertia of history is reflected in such achievements of Mencius.The fourth chapter is the study of Mencius by the Gongyang School in the late Qing Dynasty.The renaissance of the Gongyang School in the late Qing Dynasty also took the background of the vigorous behavior of the style of the world,and the ram scholars represented by Kang Youwei participated in politics with academics,which had a huge impact on the ideological and political circles in the late Qing Dynasty.This article takes Kang Youwei's "Meng Ziwei" and Liang Qichao's "Reading the Definition of" Mencius "as the research objects,but does not select traditional textual works such as Song Xiangfeng's" Mengzi Zhao Zhu Bu Zheng ",Wei Yuan's" Mencius Chronicle ".Kang Youwei combined Mencius' s ideas with the Ram III theory,and used Mencius as the inheritor of Confucius '"righteousness",and at the same time combined Western political ideas with Mencius' ideas to support his political goals of reform.At the same time,Kang Liang 's works link Mencius 's description of Yao and Shun 's era with the Western representative system of government,and link the ideas of “people are precious” in Mencius with modern values such as “equality” and “freedom”.The preliminary integration of middle school and western learning.Through the research in this article,the overall context of the study of Mencius in the late Qing Dynasty was basically sorted out.Generally speaking,the study of Mencius in the late Qing Dynasty showed the following characteristics:1.in different academic schools,the study of Mencius showed diversity.2.Demonstrate the inheritance of traditional classics.3.Embodying a strong and practical thinking.4.Responding to Western learning,and writings linking the thought of "Mencius" with Western doctrine appeared.
