Represent as a typical and widely-used grammar of Mandarin,the“Shi”sentence has been extensively studied worldwide with most of the researches were based on Asian and English-speaking countries.However,few studies have been made on the“Shi”sentence as to the of foreign Chinese teaching.Analyzing and interpreting language structure from a cognitive perspective,“Construction-Chunk”theory offers a new way when it comes to the grammar teaching and has been proved its value in the foreign Chinese teaching practice.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduces the background,theoretical basis and research methods of the topic with a summary of current researches on“Construction-Chuk”theory and the“Shi”sentence in the second language teaching.The second chapter talks about the five different grammar points which are all included in“Construction-Chuk”theory: judgement model,existence model,possessive model,focused model and alleged model.A questionnaire conducted in the Confucius Institute in Madagascar has shown that the five most common mistakes made by local Chinese students in the“Shi”sentence learning are omission,redundance,word-order,incomplete structure and the usage of“De”.This chapter analyzes the reasons for these errors from the aspects of negative transfer of mother tongue,negative transfer of target language knowledge,and the complexity of the “ Shi ” sentence and offers suggestions for teachers,textbook-compiling and teaching environment.The third chapter analyzes the current researches of the“Shi”sentences in foreign Chinese teaching according to the“Shi”sentences studies in the three syllabuses of“the teaching of Chinese to foreigners”and four volumes of “New Practical Chinese Textbooks”.The fourth chapter is mainly about the teaching design of the“Shi”sentence based on“Construction-Chuk”theory according to the current situation of foreign Chinese teaching and the author's teaching experience in Madagascar.The chapter five is the conclusion part including the innovations and the shortcomings of this paper.
