In the discourse reading studies,the factors affecting the activation and integration of conflict information have always been the core issue of researchers.In previous studies,most researches on conflict information focused on single text reading,and did not study the influence of authority of different sources on the processing of conflict information.This study distinguished the internal and external focus,designed two experiments,used eye movement online recording method and offline evaluation method,to investigate the impact of source authority on the conflict information processing of scientific and technological expository text under the condition of different focus.In Experiment 1,48 qualified college participants were selected,and the effects of source authority(high / low)on online and offline processing of conflict information under different internal focus conditions.The results of online processing showed that on the later stage of integration,under the condition of relevant focus,compared with the condition of low source authority,the subjects spent more attention resources on the explanation of arguments in the body part with high source authority and the causal arguments in the comment part in the later integration stage;under the condition of irrelevant focus,the subjects did not pay attention to the information of different source authority significantly.The results of off-line processing showed that participants more agreed with the body part's view under the condition of relevant focus.All the subjects believed and agreed with the causal argument information with high authority not only in relevant condition but also in irrelevant condition..In Experiment 2,48 qualified college participants were selected,and the effects of source authority(high / low)were examined under different external focus.The results of online processing showed that on the initial stage of integration,the subjects put more cognitive resources into the explanation of the arguments in the body part and the causal arguments in the comment information under the condition of the report target;on the later stage of integration,under the condition of report target,compared with the condition of low authority of source,the subjects spent more attention resources on the empirical evidence,the explanation of the evidence and the anecdotal evidence of the comment part with high authority of source in the later integration stage;under the condition of entertainment target,the subjects paid no significant difference on the attention to the information of different authority of source.The results of off-line processing show that under the condition of entertainment target,the participants more believed the anecdotal evidence compared with the condition of report target All the subjects believed and agreed with the causal argument with high source authority both the reported target and the entertainment target.The online processing results of Experiment 1 and Experiment 2 showed that the conflict information processing in the scientific and technological expository text is affected by reading focus.In the initial integration stage,the source authority did not significantly affect the attention resource allocation of conflict information in each part;In the later stage of integration,subjects controlled the attention resource allocation of conflict information related to source authority according to relevant focus or report focus.More attention been paid to the empirical evidence(Experiment 1 and Experiment 2)with high source authority,the explanation of evidence(Experiment 1)and the causal evidence(Experiment 1)or anecdotal evidence(Experiment 2)with high source authority in the comment section.The off-line results showed that the subjects believed and agreed with the causal arguments in the comments with high source authority.In addition,under different external focus conditions,subjects believed and agreed with different types of arguments on different degrees.The subjects believed the anecdotal evidence more under the condition of entertainment goal.The research results further enriched the understanding of the conflict information processing in the scientific and technological expository text.
