Teaching Chinese as a second language is inseparable from the textbook,and the exercises are part of textbook.The level of compilation of the exercises directly affects the quality of textbook.Chinese Course and New Practical Chinese Reader are both comprehensive teaching materials at the initial stage,and are widely used at home and abroad.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the exercises of these two textbooks.The research methods used in this thesis mainly included data statistics,comparative analysis,induction and summary.This thesis compares and analyzes the exercises of the two textbooks in terms of the amount,type and content.It aims to find out the strengths and weaknesses of these two textbooks,and provide a reference for the future practice.The thesis is devided into six parts: the first part is an introduction,which introduces the reason of topic selection,research objects and research methods,even summarizes the research situation of exercises from two aspects: exercises compilation and exercises comparison.The second part makes a comparative analysis of the exercise amount of the two textbooks,including the total amount,the strength of exercises and the distribution and change trend of the exercises.The third part compares the exercise types of the two textbooks,including the statistical analysis of the common types and the comparison of the specific types.The fourth part makes a comparative analysis of the exercise contents from four aspects:phonetics,vocabulary,grammar and Chinese characters.In the fifth part,combined with the results of the above comparative analysis,some suggestions are put forward for the exercise compilation of comprehensive textbooks of the initial stage from the four aspects: phonetics,vocabulary,grammar and Chinese characters.The sixth part is the conclusion.Comparing Chinese Course and New Practical Chinese Reader,this thesis analyzes the merits and deficiencies of the respective textbooks,and on this basis,puts forward the problems that should be paid attention to in the exercise writing.Chapter two,chapter three and chapter four are the main parts.The thesis makes a comparative study on the amount,type and content of the two textbooks,and on this basis,reference suggestions are put forward for the textbook writers.At present,there are more and more researches on the exercises in teaching materials,but compared with the research on whole set of textbooks and language elements in textbooks,the research on exercises still needs to be further improved.
