On The Formal Characteristics Of Gong Xian's Hill Of Landscape Paintings In The Middle And Late Years

This Thesis,built on the analysis of Chinese painting skills widely used by artists of early Qing Dynasty,is aimed to study Gong Xian's idea of the transmutation and structure of hills.It studies the characteristics of hills in Gong Xian's works in his mid-late(after about 40 years old)from the perspective of single element and overall style: Firstly,the thesis analyses hills the main imagery of Gong's painting via his painting philosophy,and then presents his spiritual world hidden in the hills and other subjects in Gong's painting.The thesis will also analyse and appreciate the hills in Gong's paintings as a whole,subsequently answer questions of application of ‘Hei Gong'(a painting style of Gong Xian)in atmosphere enhancement,shading and cropping.Hopefully this thesis will help you to understand how much difference Gong Xian's reflection on hills had made to early Qing paintings.
