A Study On The Still Life Of Guan Zilan

This paper is a case study of the painter Guan Zilan.Through image interpretation and literature analysis,it focuses on the modernism characteristics and feminized emotional expression of Guan Zilan's still life painting.In Guan Zilan ' Yueji's image is full of colors and forms full of vitality and inner strength.As a new woman accepting modern civilization,her creation reveals the independent personality and self awakening of women in the new era.Therefore,we can think that Guan Zilan's still life painting is her visual narration and self projection,which is the "purest self revelation" that Roger Fry thinks.The paper is divided into three chapters.In the first chapter,the background of Guan Zilan's still life painting is combed from three aspects: the rise of Western learning and the upsurge of studying abroad,the movement of foreign painting and the early art education in China,the spread of modernism and the public concern of female painters.As an important representative of the overseas painters in the first half of the 20 th century,the experience of studying in Japan has an important influence on the formation of the still life style of Guan Zilan.Among her still life paintings,mandolin and Vatican bell,vase and flower,doll and candy are the reference and innovation of the painter to modernism painting in the theme.In addition,from the analysis of composition,color and brushwork,we can see the trace of her integration of various schools of modernism.The second chapter focuses on the theme innovation and style fusion of still life painting under the background of Guan Zilan's stay in Japan through the comparative analysis of typical works.The last chapter focuses on the contributing factors of the formation of Guan Zilan's still life style.Still life painting contains Guan Zilan's emotional sustenance and self projection.It is the painter's record of life and his perception of art.Therefore,we can understand the artistic charm of the painter Guan Zilan more deeply,and at the same time,we can have a glimpse of the overall creative features and style characteristicsof female painters in the 20 th century and painters from Japan.
