| Women are the existence of society and history,women’s issue is a significant part of social issues and its emergency and development are indispensably linked to the changes in the country,history and culture.During the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,national crisis was serious,and saving the country from extinction had been the theme at that time.Revolutionary intellectuals who were concentrated on this turned their attention to women’s issue,and attached importance to women’s power.Therefore,in the realistic oppression of war and revolution and the high expectations of intellectuals,women,who account for half of the nation,were pushed to the center of the mainstream discourse of that time.Then women were able to emerge to the historical surface and write their own history.Women moved from "historical center" to "historical surface" under the strong background of saving the nation,and the recognition and growth of subject identity and gender consciousness prompted women in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China to have a deeper understanding of themselves and their relations with others,the state and society.Women’s active participation in state affairs,the development of industry,the burden of responsibility awareness and action in the community had become a trend.Women’s rights to education,employment and political participation had been gradually restored,the revolution of women gradually developed towards multiaspects.Feminine consciousness can be called Women’s consciousness,it is women’s understanding of themselves and society from the perspective of "human" and "gender".This kind of understanding includes at least two aspects: one is the understanding of the value and social consciousness that women are born to be,and the other is the understanding of women as the subject of women,that is,to study and accept themselves.Under the special historical background of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,Feminine consciousness was manifested in the concern for the survival of their own conditions and the historical concern for the survival of the country.Due to the lack of women’s expression and social attention to women’s power,discussions on women’s issues in newspapers and media with quick transmission and update emerged one after another.In a sense,it became the ideological highland for women to express their demands for rights and pass on their consciousness in the late Qing and the early Republic of China.Female Journal of Shenzhou was one of the most famous female journals in the late Qing Dynasty and the early republic of China,and it was a miniature window for women to express themselves and record historical activities.This journal promoted women’s rights,advocated equality and enlightened women,and recorded the survival prospect and consciousness change of women in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China from a unique perspective.Through materials recorded by Female Journal of Shenzhou,we can witness the difficult scenes of the transformation of modern China,the re-shaping of the existing concepts of women by men,the struggle of women’s breaking through old barriers created by men,the dilemma of women’s re-breaking through and other complex historical aspects.It would be of great value for the study of contemporary female history to select the perspective of ideological and cultural history and gender criticism for the reflection of gender,country and society on the above aspects published by Female Journal of Shenzhou,also,it helps people understand and foresee the increasingly rich meaning of Feminine consciousness and Female discourse from the late Qing Dynasty and the early republic of China to modern times.By analyzing the value and limitation of women in a specific historical period,we can learn from the past to a certain extent,so as to enhance women’s consciousness,realize social gender equity and build a gender harmonious society. |
