Female Imagination In The Novels Of Late Qing Dynasty And Early Period Of Republic Of China (1898-1917)

The late Qing Dynasty and early period of Republic of China is an important periodfor the Chinese literature to turn to the modern norm from the traditional norm, as well asan important period for Chinese men of letters to become modern intellectuals from thetraditional literary men. Compared with the image of women in the traditional novel, theimage of women in the Late Qing Dynasty novel have been significantly changes: on theone hand more diversified image of women, in addition to the traditional moderate women,female students, female teachers, female hero, woman revolutionary image shine; the otherhand, the female activity arrest is no longer confined to family life, in favor of a broadersocial life, women’s fate is no longer simply on behalf of the female individual survivalstate, but is closely related with the fate of the nation.This paper consists of four parts：the first part of the preamble to clarify thebackground and basis of the article; while the end of the Qing period, women’s issues inthe second part of the focus, combined with the Times published the article, focusing onanalysis of the waste bound feet, schools for women, marriage freedom in the lives ofwomen in these events impact on women; the third part of the combination of text specificanalysis of the Late Qing Dynasty female image: female students, female teachers, femalechivalry hero, this part is the focus of the article where, analyze and summarize theunderstanding of the unique image of women in the period; the fourth part is a heroHeroine-Qiu Jin included as a separate chapter, from the woman revolutionary, a pioneerof women’s liberation movement, women writers, women and the image level in autumnJin by real individuals to the literary image of the process; the last part of the conclusion,the author attempts to explore the characteristics of the image of women in the Late QingDynasty further thought to the end of the Qing image of women, analyze the reasons forthese characteristics and talk about their new literature impact.
