Action Research Of Production-oriented Approach On English Writing Teaching In Vocational School

With the deepening of curriculum reform,the training objectives of the vocational English curriculum are more focused on cultivating students' language output ability.How to improve students' writing level and enhance writing teaching has become the common focus of teachers and students.On the basis of reviewing the writing teaching literature at home and abroad,the author conclude that there are still many problems in English teaching and learning in secondary vocational schools.This paper,under the guidance of the production-oriented method proposed by Professor Wen Qiufang,takes the students in accounting major in XX Secondary Vocational School as the research object,and discusses how to apply the production-oriented method to the English teaching.The author intends to find out the problems in the teaching process and solve them in time through the action research method.In the process of action research,questionnaires,interviews and logs are used to help collect data.This study will focus on the following questions: 1.How does production-oriented method stimulate students' writing motivation?2.How to cultivate students' writing strategies under the guidance of production-oriented method?Focusing on the two problems to be solved in the study,the author conducts questionnaires,interviews and writing tests to analyze the confusion and difficulties in students' writing.Then,the author will carry out the first round of research,which is based on the production-oriented method.It includes three steps:(1)Writing motivation: the teacher presents the communicative scenes and activates the writing topic,then students complete the communicative activities and generate the desire for learning.On this basis,the teacher assigns the writing tasks and clears the writing goals.(2)Language input,knowledge promotion: the teacher inputs language knowledge through brainstorming,mind mapping and other ways,students selectively learn and try to produce.(3)Writing evaluation,comment and reflection: by combining students' self-evaluation with teachers' and peers' comments,this paper analyzes specific writing problems..After the first round of research,the author reflected four questions based on the teacher and the students' logs in the writing process.Then the author re-adjusted the teaching plan:(1).The situation setting should be consistent with student's life and interests.(2).Input teaching should be done step by step.(3).Composition evaluation should be based on the evidence.(4).Need to establish a reflective growth record bag.After the two rounds of action research,the author conducted a holistic analysis through questionnaires,interviews and tests,which can help summarize the whole action research.After two rounds of action research,it has been found that the combination of production-oriented approach and vocational English writing teaching made students more clear about writing goals,students' writing strategies and selective learning abilities were cultivated,and their writing enthusiasm and writing quality were also improved.According to the questionnaire,60% of the people have enhanced their confidence in writing;In terms of test scores,most students have made progress in writing content?language and structure,among them,the structure part has been obviously advanced,which the mean score was increasesd by 1.7 points,but the mean of writing content and language were increased by 1.1 points and 0.9 points.From the feedback of interviews,most of the students prefer the ways of writing teaching at the current stage,which stimulated their writing enthusiasm and cultivated good writing habits.And these also benefited from the action research,because the teacher found the teaching problems timely and adjusted the strategy to improve the teaching.Specifically,the teacher set the teaching situation more reasonable,the students were more likely to accept the input knowledge.In general,the combination of production-oriented approach and action research can effectively monitor the teaching process and make production-oriented teaching method more suitable for students' writing needs,which also provides references for other secondary vocational English teachers.
