Most vocational high school students have poor oral English.Investigation and analysis of psychological status will help vocational high school students improve their oral English.By the means of transformation from negative emotions to positive emotions and using positive emotions to guide students to make full use of subjective initiative in oral English learning,students can improve their oral English.The following research designs are made in order to improve students' oral expression ability in teaching.This study raises three questions: 1.What is the emotional state in the oral English expression of vocational high school students? 2.How can positive emotion promote the improvement of oral English among vocational high school students? 3.What is the process of emotional transformation in the improvement of oral English among vocational high school students? The author chooses 6 classes in different grades from the first grade to the third grade to observe the oral English class.Among them,two classes are Senior One students,two classes are Senior Two students,and two classes are Senior Three students.The subjects of the questionnaire are selected from three of the six classes mentioned above.Among them,there are one Senior One class with 30 students,one Senior Two class with 30 students,and one Senior Three class with 30 students.The number of total students is 90.The subjects of the interview are selected 10 of the above 90 students in the school,4 students from Senior One with 2 having good oral English performance and 2 having poor oral English performance,4 students from Senior Two also with 2 having good oral English performance and 2 having poor oral English performance.2 students are from Senior Three having poor oral English performance.Firstly,study and analyse the performance of vocational high school students in oral English class according to the classroom observation;secondly,study and analyse various psychological status of the students while speaking English through the questionnaire;thirdly,study and analyse the causes of various psychological status of vocational high school students while speaking English through the interview;finally,according to the reasons behind,positive emotions are used in teaching to try to make vocational high school students transform negative emotions into positive emotions and exert subjective initiative by the continuous influence of positive emotions to improve their oral English expression.Some case studies have been made.The study found that most vocational high school students experienced negative emotions such as stress,anxiety,inferiority,worry and fear.Through the continuous efforts of the students,the courage to practice and the teachers 'patience to help and encourage,and the use of positive emotions to guide students,so that they could exert their subjective initiative and improve their oral English ability.Emotionally,through students their own efforts,poor oral English students could see hopes in the gradual progress of oral English expression ability.They transformed from the original frustration of failures gradually into the joy of progress,transformed from hating of speaking and learning English gradually into loving of speaking and learning English.In the end of this thesis,it concludes revelation from the research,and makes a preliminary research attempt on the strategies of positive emotion teaching.Some suggestions are put forward for the improvement of the five teaching strategies: teaching content,teaching methods,teaching situation,evaluation system and teacher-student relationship.It is hoped that it will be helpful to the future practice of oral English teaching in vocational high school and that there will be a breakthrough in teaching by using positive emotional teaching strategies.It is also hoped that by means of positive emotional teaching,more vocational high school students who have poor oral English can make progress in oral English learning.
