In the process of English teaching in junior high school,teachers teach vocabulary mechanically,and students spend a lot of time on vocabulary learning,which leads to students' losing interest in English vocabulary learning.Students can not grasp the meaning and usage of vocabulary.With the implementation of the new curriculum standards,the focus of teaching has changed,from emphasizing teachers to emphasizing learners.In order to improve the teaching effect of English vocabulary,many schools in junior school have put forward many vocabulary teaching methods.Among these methods,situational teaching has attracted much attention.However,there are few studies on whether this method can be applied to English vocabulary teaching in junior high schools.The author studies the application of situational teaching method in English vocabulary teaching in junior high schools.The purpose is to discuss the following two questions: 1.How does situational teaching affect students' interests and attitude in vocabulary learning? 2.How does situational teaching affect students' vocabulary learning ability? The study was conducted by 80 junior high school students from a rural junior high school in Dalian.The experiment lasted for 17 weeks.The author collects relevant data through experimental methods and questionnaires,and then conducts research and analysis on the obtained data.Before the experiment began,the author analyzed the data obtained by testing the students' vocabulary and comprehensive scores to ensure that the vocabulary application ability and comprehensive level of the experimental class and the control class were not significantly different.In order to understand the situation of students learning English vocabulary,the author then issued a questionnaire.Under the premise of learning vocabulary resources,the experimental class and the control class use the situational teaching method,while the control class uses the traditional vocabulary teaching method.After the experiment,the corresponding vocabulary test was performed on the two classes,and the questionnaire was issued again to see if the students' understanding of English vocabulary learning changed after the experiment.The statistical analysis results are as follows: 1.Situational teaching can promote students' understanding of English vocabulary and improve their interests on vocabulary learning;2.Situational teaching can improve students' ability on vocabulary learning.The results of experimental give us inspiration: through creating a series of situational activities in vocabulary teaching,students can use English to think and communicate in a real environment.This way will greatly promote students' memory efficiency and application ability on vocabulary learning.Situational teaching also stimulates students' interests in learning English words.
