Audio-lingual method,based on structuralist linguistics and behaviorist psychology,is a second language teaching method that has been popular for a long time.It pays attention to oral skills,advocates listening first and speaking later,and pays attention to sentence drills.Through a lot of mechanical exercises,learners can finally achieve the goal of acquisition.Task-based teaching method is the latest extension of communicative method,advocating "student-centered",enabling learners to acquire target language in the process of completing tasks,and paying attention to the cultivation of communicative competence.Author taught Chinese conversation lessons during the Chinese teaching intership at Prince of Songkla University(PSU)in Thailand.In the Chinese class of Thai college students,The students are all adults at the primary level of Chinese,they have strong understanding and analysis ability,but also have higher cognitive level.Therefore,it is the main problem to study whether task-based teaching method or listening and audio-lingual method can better adapt to the needs of Chinese classes in universities in Thailand,more suitable for primary Chinese learners,and enable teachers to effectively organize teaching.The author conducted an eight-week experiment teaching in two classes,and adopted task-based teaching method and audio-lingual method respectively in two classes,made classroom design for the two teaching methods,monitored the students' response at all times during the teaching process,invited colleagues to listen to the class and gave opinions,and conducted questionnaire survey,interview survey and final grade analysis on the students after class,and finally made experiment summary.There are five chapters in this thesis.The first chapter mainly discusses the research significance,research purpose,research methods and research status of this topic.The second chapter expounds and compares the theoretical basis of task-based teaching method and listening and audio-lingual method.The third chapter is examples of teaching experiments of two teaching methods,including implementation process and teaching feedback.The fourth chapter is teaching experiment evaluation,including the evaluation in the experiment and the evaluation after the experiment;The fifth chapter analyzes and summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the two teaching methods,puts forward the factors that should be considered in the use of teaching methods and summarizes the overall teaching strategy based on the practice.
