With the development of economic globalization,English has been a common language that been learned by more and more people.It's important to learn English in China.As we known,lower-grade students in primary schools are special,because their physical and mental development are poor,and they lack of abstract thinking abilities.As a result,so many experts study how to teach English in primary schools.With the popularity of picture books,more and more teachers pay attention to the value of them.Picture books are full of many pictures,and their language is authentic.These features will meet most of the students' development.So many teachers choose picture books to teach English.However,there are all kinds of picture books,and every student in each school has different abilities.At the same time,teaching strategy of picture books is immature.So many English teachers think how to teach picture books.Second Experimental Primary School in Jiancaoping District keeps up with the development of times,they hold reading teaching of English picture books for lower-grade students in their school.But English teachers still have a lot of problems in teaching,because the teaching of English picture books is slow.In order to solve the problems efficiently,teachers adopt action research,questionnaire,classroom observation and other methods to find out a suitable reading strategy of English picture books.At the same time,it will provide some experience for other English teachers.The thesis will hold three-stage action research,they will solve some problems,for example students are afraid of unfamiliar words,they are not interested in reading English and they have not develop the habit of reading.The first stage was from Sept.to Nov.in 2018.By test,teachers found that some of students were bad at reading.One of the reasons is that students don't know many words' meanings.Second they are afraid of these unfamiliar words and lack of some necessary reading skills.In order to solve the problem,teachers choose the suitable picture books and design somegood methods.The second stage was from Nov.to Dec..Teachers took advantage of classroom record,teachers' journal and other ways to find that some students didn't have strong interest in reading.In order to solve it,teachers study it and try their best to improve their interests.The third stage was from Dec.2018 to Jan.2019.Their interests have been improved by observation,but they still didn't develop the habit of reading.English teachers took advantage of change the way of evaluation and gave different homework to solve it.In the whole action research,teachers always think,study and reflect them,at the same time they take action to solve them.Finally,teachers get some useful experience for teaching strategy of English picture books by three-stage action research.Meanwhile students have an interest of reading English and develop the habit of reading.
