The years from 1933 to 1938 was a special and noticeable period in the history of the Sino-German relations.During this period,the relationship between China and Germany experienced a significant transition from friendship to rupture.When the relations between the two countries are friendly,Senior government officials of China and Germany contacted and communicated frequently,and political trust with each other also was deepening.At the same time,The two countries had carried out in-depth cooperation in economic and military.This had led to the upgrading of diplomatic relations between two countries and the exchange of visits between delegations.In order to strengthen the tie between China and Germany,the Nanjing National Government formally appointed Cheng Tianfang,who was a important high-ranking official in Kuomintang,as the China's first ambassador to Germany on June 29,1935.However,during the official term of Cheng Tianfang,the Sino-German relation began to break up after experienced a climax.Although Cheng Tianfang had never dealt with foreign affairs in the past,yet in order to maintain the traditional relations between the two countries and strive for the weapons of Germany,he always worked hard and taken a series of major diplomatic activities,which made him play an important role in the history of the Sino-German relations.This article mainly takes the Sino-German relations from 1933 to 1938 as the research object.Based on this,in order to deeply explain and analyze the essence of pursuing practical interests in the process of international diplomacy,it sorts out and summarizes the intercourse process between the two countries,and inspects the diplomatic activities of Cheng Tianfang.Therefore,this article mainly introduces the development of Sino-German relations after Hitler came to power and the reason why Cheng Tianfang was the first Chinese ambassador to Germany,and a series of frictions that occurred under the friendly relations between the two countries in the early days of Cheng Tianfang as the ambassador,such as the signing of German-Manchurian trade agreement,the signing of the anti communist internationalagreement between Germany and Japan and the signing of the Sino-Soviet Mutual non-aggression treaty.At the same time,this paper describes the change of Germany policy towards China and Cheng Tianfang was forced to return to his country due to this change.Finally,this article also includes the evaluation of Cheng Tianfang as the ambassador to Germany and a summary of the evolution of Sino-German relations during this period.
