| The 20th-century British composer William Walton is one of the representative figures of modern British composers.His creative style is unique and has a distinct personal color.This article takes the viola concerto,a more important work in his creative career,as an example to try to explore its unique creative style and characteristics from the perspective of harmony.This article is composed of five parts: introduction,three chapters and conclusion.The introduction briefly explains the position of William Walton in the history of music,and the position and influence of his Viola Concerto in the history of music.The first chapter introduces William Walton’s life,creation style,creation background and so on in more detail.The second chapter analyzes the composition structure and music material of the work,and firstly analyzes the work as a whole.The third chapter focuses on the harmony technique of the work.Through the analysis of the tonal layout,chord structure,chord tension,voice progression,and termination in this work,he explored his harmony techniques in this work.The full text aims to investigate how the composer made his own innovation based on inheriting his predecessors through the case study of this "Viola Concerto".Through the use of pantone and polyphonic techniques,the further use of semitone harmonics and the diversified chord structure,he gradually formed his own unique harmony style. |
