William Walton(1902-1983)is a British composer of twentieth-century.He has created a wide range of genres in his life.Because of the early formal music education and continued uninterrupted learning,we can see the perfect fusion of traditional and modern music.The Cello Concerto(C65),commissioned by cellist Piatigorsky,was completed in 1956.It shows a high artistic level in both the content structure of the music and the cello technique.It's one of the excellent work of his later subjects.This article is divided into three chapters.In the first chapter,I give a brief overview of Walton's life and creation,social background and the creative situation of the cello concerto.In the second chapter,I analyze the music body of "Cello Concerto",paving the way for the details of the work discussed later.On the basis of the analysis of the previous text,in the third chapter,I expound the influence of the same period composer on Walton's composition and discusses the characteristics and causes of the style,finally analyse the characteristics of the concerto's performance.
