Scarcity is the feeling of "owning" less than "needing." People feel time pressure when experiencing the scarcity of time.Previous studies have shown that time-scarcity can affect people's subjective well-being,but the relationship between the two has not reached a consistent conclusion. The group of college students is in a campus environment and is always facing a scarcity of time. So,how do college students feel about their subjective well-being when time is scarce? In this paper,a group of college students is used as the test subject. We focus on the impact of timescarcity on subjective well-being and to explore whether there are strategies to enhance subjective well-being.Through two studies,we expect to provide some theoretical contributions and practical suggestions for scarcity psychology and subjective well-being.Study 1 targets 556 college students nationwide, adopts exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, and revises the authenticity scale(AS).The results show that the Chinese version of the authenticity scale(AS)has good reliability and validity, and the indicators basically meet the measurement requirements.Study 2 recruited 109 college students to measure participants`sense of time-scarcity,individual authenticity, and subjective well-being.The results show that time-scarcity can negatively predict subjective well-being.After controlling the influence of individual authenticity, the effect of time-scarcity on subjective well-being is still significant.Study 3 explores the possible protective factors of subjective well-being in the process of time-scarcity affecting subjective well-being.The experiment recruited 158 college students. The subjects were randomly assigned to the scarcity group and the control group. After manipulating the scarcity status, the time scarcity index scale and the subjective well-being questionnaire were used to evaluate their time scarcity and subjective well-being.Individual goals were measured to test its protective effect. The results again verified the negative predictive effect of time-scarcity on subjective well-being,but personal goals did not play a protective role.Analysis conclusion:1.The Chinese version of the Authenticity Scale(AS)is applicable to college students.2.Time-scarcity negatively predicts subjective well-being.The higher the timescarcity, the lower the subjective well-being.3.In the process of the impact of time-scarcity on subjective well-being,personal goals have not played a protective role and cannot enhance the subjective well-being of college students.
