The Influence Of Motivation Of Affect For Scene Memory

In the life,most of the events is a mood,most of the events is a mood,the influence of emotion on memory is inconsistent,appear that enhancement effect and damage effect,when using more complex scenario picture as experimental material,the study found emotion-induced memory trade-off effects.The study that effects of emotional valence and arousal for memory does not reach an agreement.Emotional motivation dimension model put forward motivation is one of the emotional dimension.This article selects complex scenes as stimulus material,discuss emotional motivation dimension,scene composition and types of complex scene image memory.This paper has three experiments.In experiment 1,author compiled and assessed the experimental materials,by the participants to the picture material for emotional valence,arousal,emotional motivation,familiarity,and visual complexity and scenario bonding evaluation,choose the experiment 2 and experiment 3 pictures of material.Experiment 2 and experiment 3 the learning-test research paradigm.The 3(emotional types: high-approaching positive affect,low-approach positive affect,neutral)x 2(scene components: center,peripheral)x 2(memory type: gist,detail)mix design was used in Experiment 2.Emotional type for variables between groups,scene components within a group and memory types of variables.The dependent variable as the memories of the time.Probing into the complex scene images of different motivation intensity,its memory performance is same,can induce different memory balance effect.The 3(emotional types: high-approach negative affect,high-avoidance negative affect,neutral)x 2(scene components: center,peripheral)x 2(memory types: gist,detail)mixed design was used in Experiment three.Emotional type for variables between groups,scene components within a group and memory types of variables.The dependent variable as the memories of the time.Probing into the complex scene images of different motive direction,its memory performance is same,can induce different memory balance effect.Through the analysis of experimental data,it is concluded that:(1)emotional motivational intensity affect memory of complex scenes.High-approach motivated positive affect narrows memory of gist,low-approach motivated positive affect broadens gist and detail of the memory.(2)motivated direction of affect does not affect the memory of scene images.Whether approach motivation,or avoidance motivation,when motivated intensity is high,negative affect always narrows gist of memory.(3)high approach-motivated positive affect(experiment 2),high approach-motivated negative affect and high avoidance-motivated negative affect(experiment 3)induced central/peripheral trade-off for memory of gist.Affects high in motivated intensity induced central/peripheral trade-off for memory of gist,affects high in motivated intensity can improve memory of gist for center component but weaken memory of gist for peripheral component.ffects high in motivated intensity.(4)on the center component,high approach-motivated positive affect(experiment 2),high approach-motivated negative affect and high avoidance-motivated negative affect(experiment 3)all induced gist/detail trade-off,affects high in motivated intensity can improve memory of gist for center component but weaken memory of detail for center component.Affects high in motivated intensity at the same time induced central/peripheral trade-off and gist/detail trade-off.
