Research On "Liao Huaitang Qinpu"

“Liao Huaitang Qinpu” is a collection of guqin scores compiled in Kangxi forty-one years(1702)It was compiled by Yun Zhigao from Wenchang Guangdong(now Hainan Wenchang).In his early years,Yun Zhigao was displaced because of the war.He was able to study and learn the guqin under the care of his adoptive father.Later,he traveled all around in pursuit of a better guqin skill learning.He met his teacher Jin Tao in the capital and compiled the score together.The article takes “Liao Huaitang Qinpu”(《蓼怀堂琴谱》)as the research object and divides it into four chapters to explain.The first chapter mainly describes Yun Zhigao’s life,family background,and friends he made.From these aspects,it can be seen that he is a wandering luthier.The second chapter focuses on exploring the source and evolution of “Liao Huaitang Qinpu”(《蓼怀堂琴谱》)Since the system of his learning is almost impossible to collect comprehensively,and there is no direct successor in the follow-up,after comparing with the existing music scores in “Qinqu Jicheng”(《琴曲集成》),we found that his music scores had the highest degree of similarity with“Songxianguan Qinpu”(《松弦馆琴谱》)and “Dahuange Qinpu”(《大还阁琴谱》).The third chapter is an analysis of the musicology of “Liao Huaitang Qinpu”(《蓼怀堂琴谱》),which mainly includes three aspects: fingering summary,theory of gongdiao,and rules of tuning system(律制).This chapter continues the foundation of the conclusion of the second chapter on the close relationship between guqin peices and Yushan School(虞 山 派)in the study of gongdiao and tunning system(律制).Studies have shown that the tune of “Liao Huaitang Qinpu”(《蓼怀堂琴谱》)regarded zhonglujun(仲吕均)with 3-limitrational sysytem(三弦为宫)as the main tone,which is not much different from the tuning system of many scores in the Qing Dynasty.Tune of guqin is based on quasi-law,and has a mixed law system of Hui law.The fourth chapter scores the music “ Wutong Yeyu”and gives a more detailed explanation,combined with the prologue part of“Liao Huaitang Qinpu”(《蓼怀堂琴谱》),and Yushan School’s famous guqin composition “Xi Shan Qin Kuang”(《溪山琴况》),to discuss and summarize Yun Zhigao’s guqin theory.“Liao Huaitang Qinpu”(《蓼怀堂琴谱》)does not completely belong to a certain guqin learning school,nor has it formed a teacher system.It has a very weak presence in many studies of guqin scores.Hope that the exploration in this article will help everyone have a deeper understanding of it.
