On the basis of literary works,the artistic conception in literary works is visualized as illustration,while the fairy tale illustration is unique with the unrestrained fantasy different from other works.Nowadays,illustrations play a very important role in information dissemination and artistic aesthetics.Many illustrations are mainly created by watercolor,and watercolor picture books have a good market in this environment.The main purpose of this paper is to study the traditional fairy tale illustrations in the past,combine tradition with innovation,and create new fairy tale illustrations in the era of digital media.First chapter I first comb the connotation and uniqueness,and the reason why I choose this topic,and then list two famous artists for example: Edmund Dulac and Kay Nielsen,studying their color and lines,composition analysis,eastern and western elements integration,change of styles and so on based on the creation process and specific works.The second chapter mainly focuses on my own creative practice and thoughts on fairy tale illustration.In the study of the past,I expand my artistic creation to meet the trend of The Times,and also discuss the significance and development of fairy tale illustration.As time goes by,the form of illustration also changes,the only thing that will not change is the pursuit of beauty,and the artistic innovation is necessary,especially for the endless study of tradition.Watercolor illustration has always been popular among the public.This paper will study the watercolor illustration picture books in the past,combine modern science and technology to practice and innovate,and strive to make a contribution to the development of picture books in the era of digital media.
