The Study Of Modal Particles In Baoji Dialect

The modal particle is a kind of virtual words.It is often at the end of the sentence to express the subtle tone of the speakers.It is the embodiment of the tone at the lexical level.Baoji is the second largest city in Shaanxi Province.In the “Chinese Language Atlas”(1987),the Baoji dialect belongs to the Central Plains Mandarin.It is the typical representative of the northwest Mandarin.In the daily spoken language of Baoji dialect,the frequency of using modal particles is very high.They helping us to express the nuances of sentences.Based on a large number of corpora and the existing results of Mandarin modal particles,this paper adopt the methods of "classification","descriptive method" and "comparative method".Firstly,it introduces the general situation of Baoji City.Secondly,according to the classified results,the modality and grammatical function of the specific modal particles are described.Thirdly,the lists of continuous use of four kind modal particles are analyzed.Finally,the expression of the modal particles’ function are analyzed.The above research analysis aims to enrich the study of Baoji dialect and modal particles.
