The communication of folk customs is a phenomenon of the communication,inheritance and transfer of various cultural elements peculiar to human beings.In this process,folk customs are gradually remembered,imagined and inherited by the public with the help of various symbols and ritual activities,and gradually evolve into the cultural concepts and collective memory of ethnic groups.Collective memory is the result of the sharing of past events and processes by members of a particular social group.This thesis takes the traditional festival that called the 3rd of the 3rd lunar month of Bourau in Guangxi as an example to discuss that how the communication of folk-custom form the Bourau's collective memory.With the development of the society,this festival has gradually become a important festival combining tradition and modernity.The main activities of this festival are offering sacrifices to ancestors and traditional singing fair.As a symbol of folk communication,both two activities have formed a top-down and one-way information transmission feature within the Bourau ethnic group during the ritual performance.In the process of continuous repetition and demonstration of the ceremony,the history and culture of the Bourau have been inherited and continued,at same time the collective memory of the group has been formed.In addition,mass communication has gradually become a force that cannot be ignored in the development of folk life.In the process of folk communication of this traditional festival,the mass media intervened in it and carried the history and culture of the Bourau when reporting folk activities related to that festival,reproducing the collective memories of the people of the Bourau.At the same time,the mass media selectively reported that festival of Bourau,shaping it as the biggest event that all ethnic groups in Guangxi will celebrate,as well as a tourism and cultural brand of Guangxi,which affected the audience's cognitive framework of this festival and then affected their collective memories of it.The main body of this paper is divided into five parts: introduction,the overview of the festival call the 3rd of the 3rd lunar month,ritual communication and collective memories,mass communication and collective memories,and conclusion.
