Atmosphere creating is the most important research object of oil painting.Exploring the artistic means of atmosphere building in Monet's rouen cathedral is the core issue of this paper trying to explain and elaborate.What Monet does well in creating the atmosphere of the picture is firstly the inspiration collision brought by the natural images,secondly the character realm created by the conception composition,then the style and appearance influenced by the shape and brush strokes,and finally the strong emotion presented by the color tone.Monet's life is full of sincerity and love for "light".The picture atmosphere he created enables viewers to directly understand the color changes of natural objects under specific light conditions,which shows the amazing charm of painting art wonderfully and excellently for us.This paper first sorts out monet's life story and the historical origin of the group paintings,then makes a detailed analysis of the group paintings,and studies monet's artistic approach to atmosphere creation from four aspects,including composition,observation mode,brushwork and color.This paper demonstrates the influence of Monet's painting techniques on the creation of atmosphere in rouen cathedral,and reveals the important position of atmosphere creating in the creation process of the work,so as to further understand the significance of Monet on the creation of atmosphere.Finally,from the perspective and feeling trigger of individual as the creative subject,combined with the creative experience of sketching,the essence of atmosphere creation in painting is explored.There are 23 papers and 56 references.
