As the important component of English language skills,English reading plays an important role in fostering the development of four basic skills including listening, speaking, reading and writing. Therefore, cultivating English reading performance is still one of the most important tasks in current senior high school English teaching.Nevertheless,in practical teaching, the traditional teaching method only focuses on the explanation of knowledge points and grammar, neglecting the cultivation of English reading abilities.Since Jonathan Bergmann and Aaron Sams attempted flipped classroom teaching mode by recording online videos in 2007,more and more researchers have paid attention to the teaching mode of flipped classroom and attained fruitful achievements. However, most current studies focused on the application of flipped classroom based on MOOC to English teaching in higher education and rare researches were conducted in the application of flipped classroom based on MOOC to English reading teaching in senior high school.Based on previous studies, the author combines the flipped classroom based on MOOC with English reading practice in senior high school to explore the relationship between the flipped classroom teaching mode based on MOOC and students' English reading performance. Then this paper tries to provide a more feasible teaching mode for English reading teaching in high school. There are three research questions in this study;1.What's the current situation of applying the flipped classroom to English reading teaching in senior high school?2.What's the effect of flipped classroom based on MOOC on students' reading interest in senior high school? 3.What's the effect of flipped classroom based on MOOC on students' reading performance in senior high school?Based on research questions mentioned above,100 students from two parallel classes of Grade 1 in Panshan High School were selected as research participants.Class 3 is regarded as experimental class and class 4,controlled class. At first, the author conducts questionnaire among all participants in pretest,English reading tests in both pretest and posttest and individual interview in posttest. Then data is collected and finally quantitative and qualitative analysis is held by using SPSS software.Through empirical research, the following conclusions are drawn: It is not universal to apply flipped classroom to English reading teaching in senior high school;Applyingflipped classroom teaching mode based on MOOC to English reading teaching can promote students' English reading interest; The flipped classroom teaching mode based on MOOC can improve students' reading performance.Hence,it is feasible for teachers to apply flipped classroom based on MOOC to English reading teaching in senior high school.
