Listening comprehension is of vital importance in the process of interpreting. However,it is most prone to problems in the E-C interpreting, especially for Chinese interpreting trainees. And long sentences are often considered as a chief barrier to listening comprehension in interpreting.Based on the E-C interpreting practice at 2019 China Inbound and Outbound Tourism Fair, the report focuses on analyzing the barriers created by long sentences. The author identifies types of long sentences that are most challenging in her interpreting, and discusses them under three grammatical classification of sentences, namely long simple sentences, long compound sentences, and long complex sentences.By using Gile's Efforts Model, this practice report provides three strategies to overcome the barriers, namely sharpening note-taking skill, optimizing strategy of energy distribution, and enlarging energy capacity.
