With its particular operation mode and inherent rules, interpreting has been studied by many experts and scholars from many disciplines such as sociolinguistics, cognitive science, and so on since the last century.Daniel Gile,a very famous interpreter in France, puts forward Comprehension Equation and Effort Model. The former theory shows that the comprehension of interpreters is determined by knowledge of'language,extra-linguistic knowledge and analysis. The latter shows that interpreting is a multi-task activity and each task is effort-consuming.If an interpreter wants to complete an interpreting task successfully,he will have to make sure that the required capacity available for information processing is not more than the total capacity available for information processing.Gile's Comprehension Equation and Effort Model throw light on author's analyzing the cause of problems. This is a practice report on E-C consecutive interpreting, the corpus of which is collected from a lecture themed with "The Various Modes of Freight Transportation-Focus on Logistics Industry in the United States".This consecutive interpreting by the author has reached the successful information communication on the spot. However, after analyzing the record of the lecture, the author finds out there were several mistakes in the process of interpreting, such as incomplete interpreting and missing information, etc.By analyzing and reflecting on the practice with theories combined, the author finds that the problem triggers are stemmed from comprehension of source language and effort allocation and puts forward some suggestions to promote the performance of interpreters on consecutive interpreting. The author hopes that this practice report will give some enlightenment and inspiration for beginners in interpreting and provide some useful reference for interpreting training.
