General High School English Curriculum Standards 2017 highlights the importance of cultural awareness in English learning.2019 College Entrance Examination compositions of national unified test papers are all tightly close to cultural awareness.Although cultural awareness has been more and more important in English teaching and learning and it should be paid attention to by English teachers,the number of its study is limited.Also,fewer and fewer researchers combined cultural awareness with novice and expert teachers.Therefore,this thesis did a comparative study of cultural awareness between English novice and expert teachers of senior high school and contained two research questions:1.What are similarities and differences of opinions of cultural awareness between English novice and expert teachers of senior high school?2.What are similarities and differences of the cultivation of students' cultural awareness in class between English novice and expert teachers of senior high school?Two novice English teachers,two expert English teachers and their students from an excellent senior high school in Shenyang were the subjects of this study.The first part of interview was used to explore the first research question.Meanwhile,the second research question was explored by means of the second part of interview,observation and students' questionnaire.After detailed analysis of these results,the conclusion was drawn.Although College Entrance Examination was an inevitable resistance,teachers still treated cultural awareness with positive mood.Besides,in general,expert teachers held more objective attitude to and more comprehensive resistance of cultural awareness than novice teachers and did better in teaching duration,class questioning,class feedback,and the solution to unexpected conditions.However,novice teachers formed higher teaching efficiency and their own teaching styles with more advanced teaching martial.Finally,some limitations and suggestions were put forward sincerely,for example,types of observed classes and the tests focusing on teachers' cultural knowledge should be studied intensively for other researchers.
