The Frontier Research Of Northwest University(1937-1949)

Northwest university is a university which located in Shanxi and academic originated from Beijing.In 1937,"Shanxi source" and "Beijing source" merged to form xi 'an temporary university.Under the influence of the situation,the name of the university changed several times,it went through the period of northwest associated university and national northwest university on the whole.The national northwest university which founded in August 1939 has obtained achievements in the frontier research fields,especially the department of frontier policy became the dominant force in the frontier research.After the rise of the war of resistance against Japanese aggression,with the change of the layout of colleges and universities in China,the frontier research center which is based on universities gradually took shape.This paper collects the relevant documents and scholars' writings by means of literature,then expound the background of frontier research in northwest university,the development of frontier research in the relevant departments,the understanding of frontier of scholars and the service of frontier construction.Through the research,this paper holds that a series of study on the geography,nationality,religion and education of frontier areas carried out by northwest university during the hard years of Anti-Japanese War is an indispensable part of the academic layout of China's frontier studies.People's understanding and thinking of the frontier society reflect their concern for the establishment of the Anti-Japanese War and the development of the frontier society.In addition to academic research,northwest university devoted itself to the social practice of serving the frontier actively and made important contributions to the construction of the northwest frontier area.
