This paper takes the documentary "The Forbidden City 100" as an example,regards the documentary as a special discourse and conducts discourse research.This paper focuses on the characteristics of discourse,the relationship between linguistic forms and non linguistic forms and the construction of discourse meaning.The first chapter is the introduction.This chapter mainly describes the basis of the topic,literature review,research significance,research ideas,research methods.Literature review mainly includes discourse studies at home and abroad,the current situation of documentary discourse research and documentary "The Forbidden City 100".It is found that the research on documentary discourse is relatively weak.In chapter two,the definition of documentary discourse is defined,and the structure of documentary discourse's speech communication behavior is analyzed.According to speech act theory,documentary discourse is a communicative act,its communicative intention is to inform.The four factors of communicative subject,intention,form and context interact to form the communicative structure of a text.The third chapter focuses on the contextual factors of the documentary "The Forbidden City 100".In discourse analysis,context analysis is essential.The speaker can use and manipulate context to achieve communicative intention.This chapter focuses on situational context and background context.The former is in the interior of the text and plays a direct role in the generation of the text.The latter belongs to a large context and plays an indirect role in discourse construction.In order to understand the meaning of documentary discourse,the audience often needs to combine the picture of documentary,Chinese history,culture and social background.Chapter four discusses cohesion and coherence.Through the description and analysis of specific examples,it focuses on the cohesion and coherent expression realized by linguistic forms.It studies the cohesive function of reference in the text of "The Forbidden City 100" and the coherence means of the text.The linguistic forms represented by subtitles and narration play a very important role in explaining the content of the picture,illuminating the implied deep meaning of the picture,and acting as the link of picture transformation.The fifth chapter mainly analyzes the relationship between linguisticforms and non linguistic forms in the text of "The Forbidden City 100".The non linguistic form represented by pictures helps to construct meaning.The picture brings visual impact,plays the role of explanation,supplement and reinforcement,and makes up for the shortcomings of linguistic form expression.The relationship between linguistic forms and non linguistic forms is very close.Both of them work together to realize the communicative intention of documentary texts.The last chapter is the conclusion of the study.Through the discourse research of the documentary "The Forbidden City 100",it is realized that the communicative subject uses context,linguistic and non linguistic forms to realize the communicative intention of carrying forward Chinese traditional culture and telling the historical story of the Forbidden City,so as to achieve the ideal communication effect.
