With the enhancement of China's comprehensive strength and improvement of its international influence, interpretation has taken an increasingly prominent role in international communications between China and other countries.Interpretive Theory holds that interpreting is a communicative behavior or process with the purpose of conveying the meaning of the information rather than the form of the language. The target of the Interpretive Theory no longer stays at the language level, but takes interpretation as a communicative behavior. The interpreter has the flexibility to handle the original text, which means getting rid of the form of the source language, and grasping the meaning of it.Therefore, the Interpretative Theory can be of great value in interpreting practice. From September 11 th to 17 th in 2018,the author provided escort interpretation services for the visiting Belgian Business and Cultural Travel Mission. In this report, typical examples are presented and analyzed under the guidance of Interpretive Theory. The case analysis is conducted with useful tactics and techniques in deverbalization to achieve communicative purpose.Other useful suggestions are also put forward, such as full preparations before interpreting, improvement of bilingual communication ability, accumulation of encyclopedic knowledge, and strengthening of physical and mental quality, etc.Guided by the Interpretive Theory of “deverbalization”,with data and cases from the recording materials of the interpretation task, this report analyzes the problems in escort interpretation from the perspective of redundancy. The report is expected to improve the author's own interpretation, and provide some reference for the learning and practice of other student interpreters.
