The interpretive theory believes that the role of language lies in conveying the message and the intention of the speaker rather than the linguistic form. The interpreting process can be divided into comprehension, deverbalization and reformulation among which deverbalization plays a connecting role. The research on the deverbalization process only covers sentences and discourse. The results from the empirical research are not detailed. So this thesis will choose 14 students including 4 senior students majoring in translation,3 second-year graduate students in interpreting from Shaanxi Normal University,3 first-year graduate students in interpreting from Wuhan University of Technology and 4 second-year graduate students in interpreting from Xi'an International Studies University. The audio material will be extracted from President Xi's speech on G 20 forum in Hangzhou(C-E)and the report of the trade war between China and US(E-C).The case studies will be conducted based on the recorded transcripts in reformulation, explanation, connection and contextualization. The techniques will be given accordingly.I hope that this thesis will help interpreting learners and enrich the interpretive theory.
