A Report On The E-C Translation Of Interconnecting Translation Studies And Imagology

Using the symposium Interconnecting Translation Studies and Imagology as translation material,the report aims to analyze text features and difficulties of the original text through translation practice and further explores the specific translation methods guided by Nord's translation strategies.On the basis of original textual analysis and translation practice,the author then decides on the strategies for translating the symposium,i.e.,the documentary translation as the predominant strategy with the instrumental translation as a supplement.Under the guidance of the two strategies,the author gives an analysis of the specific translation methods,i.e.,exoticizing translation method and literal translation method,then works out the faithful and smooth target text.Furthermore,the author summarizes the corresponding methods for the translation of professional terms,passive voices,long and difficult sentences.The report includes five chapters,i.e.,the introduction,source text analysis,theoretical foundation,case study and conclusion.Chapter one presents the background,significance and the structure of the report.Chapter two briefly introduces the symposium Interconnecting Translation Studies and Imagology and analyzes text features of it.Chapter three briefly discusses Nord's model of translation-oriented text analysis and puts forward the translation strategies and methods for translating the symposium.Chapter four,the key part of the report,presents some typical case analysis by employing the specific translation methods.In the final chapter,the conclusion of this report,the author summarizes the experience and knowledge gained from the translation practice.
