Consecutive interpretation, one of the essential types of interpretation,is commonly used on many occasions such as lectures, negotiations, press conferences, banquets, visits and so forth.Whichever the occasion is,the target language ought to be translated appropriately. In 1997,Basil Hatim & Ian Mason, pointed out that interpretation was not only a simple interlingual activity, but also a communicative activity in a certain social context. In the past, interpreters were treated as invisible. However,in recent years, more and more scholars believe that interpreters have always been active in the interpretation, and they have constantly adjusted their roles in accordance with a specific occasion. With the transcript of the author's on-site consecutive interpretation as material, the thesis sheds light on three roles played by the interpreter in the interpretation based on visibility,namely,gatekeeper,co-speaker and coordinator.By case analysis, the author finds that the interpreter spontaneously adopts interpreting strategies when interpreting.Furthermore, the author also finds that the interpreter conveys the information of the source language by using the methods such as simplification, adaptation and explanation of the source language. In addition, the author provides a revised version for selected examples which are marked with loss of information, logical errors and redundancy. This thesis aims at deepening the understanding of the interpreter's visibility in foreign-aid training's interpretation by analyzing the transcript and at providing reference for similar interpretation in the future.
