A Report On The Interpreting For The 2019 China Open Hebei Mixed Doubles Curling

Interpreters take the responsibility to help clients communicate successfully and achieve their communicative goals.Because of the complexity of interpretation,the differences between cultures,interpreting environments,emergencies and other facts should be considered in the process.Therefore,interpreters are not just “language machine” turning a language into another.To have a successful interpretation,interpreters need to change form an invisible language machine into a visible interpreter.This report is based on the interpreting practice of the 2019 China Open Hebei Mixed Doubles Curling.It firstly introduces the task including its background,content and the requirements of the client and then introduces the whole interpreting process.Then in the case study,the report analyzes the difficulties and challenges in interpreting and the strategies adopted from the perspectives of gatekeeper,co-interlocutor and coordinator according to the interpreter's visibility consciousness of Ren Wen.The report tries to demonstrate the rationality and importance of interpreter's visibility consciousness and provide some references for future interpreters.
