| Nowadays, with the increasing frequency of international exchanges, the interpretation plays a vital role in various international events and large-scale conferences, and the consecutive interpreting is used more widely. In order to bridge the gap caused by cross-cultural communication and strengthen China’s international discourse power, the interpreter should try the best to ensure the textual cohesion and coherence in the practice. Therefore, the study of this issue has practical significance. This thesis is a practice report of Chinese-English simulated consecutive interpreting, which takes the documentary,Chinese Ports,as an example.Under the guidance of Translation Compensation Theory, main reasons for textual cohesion and coherence problems are analyzed emphatically, and corresponding strategies are proposed. The case analysis indicates that: paraphrase and integration can tackle understanding difficulties caused by cultural defaults;shifting perspective and adaptation can handle the textual incoherence due to the different Chinese-English thinking;methods of contextual amplification and specification can effectively avoid the improper textual cohesion caused by unclear logic. In the interpreting practice, these solutions not only compensate for the translation losses in the text, but also enhance the quality of interpretation.Meanwhile,it is expected that the practice report will facilitate the study of Translation Compensation Theory in consecutive interpreting, and further provide enlightenment for how to optimize the textual cohesion and coherence. |
